Do you pay for your blog???

PLEASE READ.....

Hiya!

Sorry I haven't visited many of your blogs the last few days - I've spent all my computer time looking for an answer to why I could upload a photo to my blog..... I kept getting the message that I'd run out of space and to upgrade and get more space I need to pay $2.49 a month! Following advice from Carole I starting investigating Picasa which apparently is where all my photos are stored (I had no idea....!) One link I followed told me I'd used 60% of my 1Gb that I'm allowed for free. Great, I thought. It's just a mistake and it'll sort itself out soon. However, I've since found another page telling me I've used 99.99% of my space :-( WHAT??? So now I'm thinking I'm going to have to start paying....

So.... Dear blogging pals....

Do You Pay For Your Blogs???

Perhaps for some reason the pictures I use take up more memory than the ones you use? How much of your free space have you used? Try following this link to find out:

If anyone could give me any advice before I bite the bullet and start my subscription I would be very grateful.

Love and hugs,
And yes, my signature does count as a picture and is eating into my final 0.01% of what space I have left! :-(

Hey hunny, I had the same back along but since changing laptops I somehow have more space left! I am currently on 85% of my allowance as I now upload into a Kodak album instead of Picassa.
Don't forget the pictures are from all your blogs including one's you upload in DT blogs.
You could either delete some old pictures including the blog posts as some people do & I have in the past or as Joey said you end up with a big black box instead of the photo, save photo's, digis etc onto disc or memory stick and delete from Picasa or pay the approx £1.89 a month!
I wonder how much storage our £1.89 a month would get us before that starts creeping up and we need more though!
big hugs Mandy xx

Mel - I've not been asked to pay for space up to now, but I expect the hall gardens blog must be getting pretty full. I know that the Wordpess blogs charge if you go over the limit, so I suppose it makes sense for Blogger to do the same. Time to switch to photobucket / other hosts soon for me I guess.

I remember reading about this on one of the other blogs I follow. There is a way round it. I've added the link below. :)

Hi Mel, I just followed your Picasa link & found out that I've used 28.62% of my total allowance, that is 293mb out of 1024mb. I've been running my blog for just over 18 mths & have quite a few pics on there. I upload my pics straight from my pc, I have never used Picasa even though I did find out last year that all my pics were stored there. I've just checked the image sizes of a few of my cards & the average seems to be about 250kb's. Where do you upload your pics from & what size are they on your blog?

Mel - Check this link. It will clarify things:

By the way, a standard upgrade gives you an additional 25 gigs of storage.

Take it easy

Hi Mel, I've not had any messages come up yet. I don't understand picasa? I upload mine from my camera straight onto my computer and save them in a folder on there.

Could you try uploading your pics elsewhere such as photobucket/flickr etc?

Hmmmm, that's weird. I noticed I am only using 3,11% of my Picassa storage. Only a few of my pictures are stored there. No idea why those pictures are there and the others are not. This thing is a mystery to me.
