Dream Valley Challenge 74 - No Designer Papers

Hiya!

What a miserable day! I tell you, it makes me want to stay in all day in my jammies :-)

Anyway, on to the new challenge from Dream Valley. This week we would like you to show us what you can do without designer papers!

I wanted to make my non-DP-background a feature of the card so I've kept it quite plain. I used a background stamp that I randomly stamped across a piece of white card and then embossed in white. I apologise for the photo. If I'd known it was this bad I'd have taken another before I gave the card away! :-)

You can see the embossed background a bit more clearly on this pic....

I cut the blue background heart from another piece of my layering card, and then the overlay heart from another piece of embossed white card.  I found a pretty piece of matching ribbon to tie a little bow for the top.....

I hope you like it! Fingers crossed this weather improves soon. The hail storm yesterday was quite scary! I hope it's better wherever you are, but if you are stuck indoors all day like me, maybe you can pop over to Dream Valley for some non-DP inspiration???

Love 'n' hugs,

Dream Valley Challenge 70 - Clean and Simple

Hiya!

It's time for another challenge over at Dream Valley and this time we'd like to see your Clean and Simple cards. Now I've always found these a challenge but I have been working on them behind the scenes - heaven knows, they easily take me as long as my normal cards! My good friend Yvonne has helped me to get the tree on this one just right.....

We tried stamping in white, and embossing with all sorts of inks and powders to get the right effect that showed all the detail in the tree and gave a clear enough image. Finally, using some extra fine white embossing powder I picked up at the craft show at the NEC last week, I managed to get just what I wanted - yay!

A close up of the image from Inkylicious.....

The sentiment was handwritten in white gel pen because, again, I was struggling to find exactly the right phrase and font..... and you can't exactly print in white, can you!?! :-) I added a couple of tiny gems and a hand drawn border. Overall, I'm quite pleased with the results!

Now make sure you pop over to Dream Valley and have a look at the gorgeous creations there which all look far more effortless than this one seemed to be!

Love 'n' hugs,
